She’s kind of like the classic asian women, where she doesn’t really eat anything but chinese. She wants to try something new, so I suggest Mexican. What should she order from this menu:

http://www.lahaciendarealonline.com/dinner.pdf

She doesn’t really like cheese…

Thumbs Special.

That menu doesn’t look very safe for a Chinese who really doesn’t eat anything but authentic Chinese foods. There are very few very safe dishes on that menu.

Safe dishes:
1) Medio Pollo Asado. Originally, I was going to recommend Pollo Asado but I noticed it was made with chicken breasts and most Chinese prefer dark meat. So, Medio Pollo Asado will be a better choice. She will most likely not like the rice and the refried beans on the side. If I were you, I’ll try to replace refried beans with french fries. 80% safe.

2) Fajitas. Chicken and shrimp will suit Chinese better. Out of the two, I think chicken will be safer. 80% safe.

3) Coctel de Camaron. Not all Chinese could handle raw onions and not all Chinese like raw tomatoes. If you think she don’t mind those, this one could be safe. Overall: 60%.

4) Mojarra Frita. If the fish leaves the kitchen bland and you’ll need to sprinkle salt on it, many Chinese would not like it. Overall: 50% safe.

Things to avoid: Corn tortilla, refried beans, sour cream, dishes were covered in a lot of thick sauce, dishes that contained a lot of spice, dishes that were covered in a lot of cheese, dishes that tasted too buttery, and dishes that looked a little too "busy" (Just take a look at the dishes displayed on the last page. Most dishes on that page looked "busy".) What I just said will not apply to all Chinese. The list will work pretty well on older and slightly older Chinese from mainland China. If your mom is from Hong Kong, Singapore/Malaysia or other locations, the list will need to be modified slightly.

It depends on the size of the restaurant, and whether it’s expensive or not.If expensive the tips might be better. It would also be good if the restaurant had Spanish speaking workers, which I do.

Hope this helps

whatever you do, stay away from the taco salad. it has anywhere between 600-1000+ cal, compared to 300 in a normal taco.
start out with black bean soup or tossed garden salad with low fat dressing or some guac, and have some mixed vegetables with a bean taco. drink water or diet soda, and see if you can get fruit (not fried) for dessert. if not, split a normal one with a friend.

I’m going to go on a date tomorrow and we are going to a local Mexican restaurant. I haven’t been there since I became vegetarian and now I’m worried about what to have there. The other times I’ve gone I just randomly chose off the menu which is mostly Spanish and it always had meat in it. Help, what is something they might serve that has no meat?

Oh and I believe even there nachos have meat on top of them with the cheese!

You do not have anything to worry about; they will be penty of things to have without meat.
A bean boritto, cheese anchalotas, veggie and cheese quasodillas, cheese quasodillas, rise and beans, vegetarian taco salad. Many stuff they have will automatically be meat free, such as cheese quasodillas (or they could just make them for you with just cheese or cheese and peppers). Or you could ask them to give you a hard or soft taco shell with rice, beans lettuce tomatoes and cheese. It might be on the menue (a veggie taco) if not, just tell them that is what you want.
Before going to a restuarant, I sometimes like to look the menue up online or call them to quickly check if they have a specific thing I like because I dont really eat much meat, but you don’t necessarly have to do that. I just do that to make it easier when I am with a group of people so I could just order what I want.
Some places might even have a vegetarian chillie.
There is always something without meat.
If you really want nachos, just ask them to omit the meat.

Fajitas

Mouthwatering Fajitas – Whether you prefer meat, fish, or strictly vegetarian Mexican food, fajitas are the perfect dish to indulge your senses. Overlooking the fact that fajitas are technically a Tex Mex food, they remain one of the most popular dishes on Mexican restaurant menus, and they are a breeze to rustle up yourself…

I would eat Fajitas. Especially beef fajitas, those are the best.
